Councillors and Staff

Ian Fullerton
Councillor and Planning Chair
Born and educated in Canada, I came to England in 1966 to do postgraduate research at Imperial College. In 1981 I moved to Swallowfield with my wife and children and, over the years, have become very familiar with Swallowfield and our local community.
My working life spanned a range of operational and management roles, several with leading international companies, and concluded as an independent business consultant.
Following retirement, I sought an opportunity to use the knowledge and experience gained through a lifetime in business and industry to ‘give something back’ to society. This led to me joining the charity ‘South Bucks Riding for the Disabled Association’ where I served for 9 years as Trustee and Group Treasurer.
More recently I looked for opportunities to make a contribution closer to home and was fortunate to join the council in 2020. Since joining SPC I have been focussed on traffic calming measures and how we can improve the comfort and safety of our local roads for all users.
I have a particular interest in protecting our local environment and the rural character of our village.
Located in Berkshire and part of the borough of Wokingham, the parish of Swallowfield consists of the villages and settlements of Swallowfield, Riseley, Farley Hill and Stanford End. Swallowfield Parish Council has nine councillors.
