WBC NEWS RELEASE ON JUNCTION 11 WORK

CARRIAGEWAY RE-SURFACING SCHOOL ROAD ARBORFIELD
Essential roadworks have commenced on School Road Arborfield.The works are being planned to be completed in two phases as follows:
Phase 1 – Works between the A327 Reading Road Arborfield and Wood Lane during the School summer holiday which will take approximately 6 weeks to complete.
Phase 2 – Works between Wood Lane & Barkham Road which will follow on from Phase 1 and will take approximately 4 weeks to complete.
Most works in both phases will be completed working under temporary traffic signal control but a Road Closure is required commencing on the 11th August 2008 for three weeks duration to complete the Phase 1 resurfacing and replacement road humps works safely.
Working hours will be from 0930 to 1600 hours Monday to Friday.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

Wokingham Borough Council has advised that there are funding opportunities available for individuals and organisations in a wide range of areas. These include: Sport and Leisure, Environmental, Arts and Culture, Schools, Children and Young People, Broader Community and Cultural Groups, Social Enterprise, Health and Miscellaneous.

The information has been gathered from a variety of sources, including www.fundinginformation.org, www.BidTrack.co.uk and individual funder websites.
If you are interested in developing a bid to one of these funding opportunities, make contact with the funding organisation to confirm the details and the eligibility of your project, before developing and submitting your bid. Contact details are available from Celia Adams (Clerk to the Parish Council).


SWALLOWFIELD PARISH STORES

Chrissie and Keith Vertigan would like to thank everyone for their support since they have taken over. All the following services and products will be provided, but if you would like them to stock any particular products, please let them know and they will try hard to accommodate your request.

· Newspapers and magazines can be reserved and kept for you. A list is being compiled for newspaper deliveries, so please leave your name and order.
· Fresh food - meat, vegetables, eggs, fruit, bread and cheese - will be stocked
· Fresh sandwiches, baguettes, salads and cakes will all be made daily and delivered first thing in the morning - either pre order so you are not disappointed or take a chance on what's in.
· A dry cleaning and shoe repair service is still being offered.

Parishioners will be pleased to hear that the opening hours of the shop are being extended, as follows:
                 Monday to Friday: 7.30am - 7.00pm
                 Saturday: 8.00am - 7.00pm
                 Sunday: 9.00am - 1.00pm
                                 Save Petrol - Shop Locally

The Post Office provides all the standard general services and also offers
· Vehicle road licence renewal
· Banking: cash withdrawals and deposits for the following banks - Alliance and Leicester, Barclays, Cahoot, Co-op, Lloyds, Smile.co.uk. To deposit cheques you need to use an envelope from your bank
· Pre-ordering of foreign currency free of charge
· Debit cards can be used for certain payments
