The Calico Trust

The Trust consists of three small charities set up in the middle of the 18"' century by three gentlemen of the parish. Its purpose was to provide money for calico sheeting to be given every three years to the needy of the parish - hence the name Calico Trust.
This continued well into this century, although calico yardage was replaced with purchased sheets and pillowcases! A few years ago these three charities were amalgamated to form the Calico Trust as it is today. It is now a charity managed under the guidance of the Charities Commission but its purpose continues to be one of helping families within the parish. Sheets are of course no longer distributed and the help now takes a variety of forms. The trustees have a clear set of criteria laid down by the Commission by which they must abide.
Anyone within the parish may talk to the trustees in complete confidence to request assistance. In the first instance, please contact the Clerk for the names of the current trustees.
